More About 2.5D MMO Games

One of the most popular types of pseudo-3D graphics is featured in 2.5D MMO Games. This style combines the advantages of classic top-down view and non-resource intensive 2D graphics, often released in the form of pixel sprites. This combination, called isometric videogame graphics, was a real technological breakthrough in the gaming industry. In these games, players were able to see the objects from different angles and fully understand what happens on the screen. To some extent, isometric graphics are even more convenient than beautiful 3D visuals with the view from the first or third person, because, in 2.5D games, players could control what is happening behind their character's back and instantly respond to any threat. Also, it is much more convenient and exciting to explore the well-designed game locations from the bird's-eye view.

However, even though that isometric games were accessible for many computer users and many players liked them more than clumsy early 3D projects, their production was a little more complicated and had some tricks, which are difficult to notice at first sight. For example, artists had to consider additional coordinates when creating sprites. Without that, they would not display correctly. Although 2.5D MMO Games were invented a long time ago, such graphics are still very popular. Nowadays it can be used both by indie developers and large studios, and the visual style even can be released in the 3D graphics, combined with the isometric angle of view.
