Even though most modern computers can run any videogames from complex projects with three-dimensional graphics to easiest pixel games, developers still choose the rare and unusual variants. One of them is retro-inspired 2D MMORPG. These games have the most extensive variety of visuals and unique graphic styles; even though the two-dimensional projects are more accessible and cheaper to develop. More About 2D MMORPG

The main feature of 2D MMORPG is their visual style: the graphics of these videogames released in two dimensions, sometimes with specific tricks, which transforms usual projects with the plane picture to pseudo-3D games. 2D roleplaying projects are not restricted by genre and setting, but the most popular ones are side-scrollers, adventures and action RPGs. The 2D videogames have several specific sub-genres, which has the same style of graphic representation which differs dramatically. The several most popular ones have a range of unique features. First of all, one of the outstanding 2D genres are side-scrollers, where your character can move only to two directions: from side to side of the screen, and up and down.

Another popular subgenre of 2D MMORPG is the pseudo-realistic visual style. There are several 2D graphic types, which has the same conception of realisation, but the visible part of these methods is absolutely different. The first one looks like a picture from a top-down view, which is still close to the plane picture, but it has an additional dimension, which helps to show more details. The more advanced example of pseudo-3D graphics is called isometrics; it looks like a classic realistic picture with a specific angle of view — usually, these games released with a pixel or combined graphics. One of the most successful combinations for 2D roleplaying games is an isometric view with 3D-models and hand-drawn 2D backgrounds.
