More about ARPG Games

Since most of the role-playing games started as a digital analogue of Dungeons & Dragons, which is a tabletop RP, they were mostly released in a fantasy setting. Participants got a chance to create the character as they prefer by choosing the race, the class, build, appearance and so on, including the statistics needed for better performance. And this tradition is still relevant to this day, and the only difference is that developers have come up with vast amounts of tools to customization according to the class that was chosen.

Players are presented with an opportunity to pick the speciality of their champion that will eventually become a world-saving hero. The list of available classes is widening almost with every new project, but there are quite a few common ones that can be easily described. Warriors and Lancers take up the role of defensive fighters who aren't afraid to receive damage, as they possess a vast amount of health points and a heavy armour. Mages, Sorcerers and Druids are usually great far-distance damage dealers that wield the most useful spells for controlling the crowds of enemies and putting damaging effects on them. Druids can also shapeshift into animals to put on specific buffs. Archers, Rangers and Assassins are the best at sneaking up to foes and attacking by surprise, without endangering themselves; these rogues are great for stunning enemies and sneaking past to come out unharmed. Priests and Paladins can be damage dealers as well, but they are perfect at healing and buffing their fellow party members.

But for those who are keen about conquering the galaxies, there are quite a few cosmic RPGs with unique classes and mechanics. The specialities of these games are more tech-oriented, but the archetype roles are the same.

ARPG Games are usually presented as non-target action-combat projects with detailed graphics. This kind of combat system deeps an immersion of the experience and involvement in the storyline. Many space-themed RPGs support a third-person or a first-person shooting, and the setting and the game plot determine the mechanics.
