Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Gameplay

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set in 431–422 BC. It features an alternative history setting during the Peloponnesian War in Greece. The players take the role of a mercenary, and they can fight for Athens or Sparta. The story revolves around the siblings that try to restore their fractured family. They were thrown off a cliff and left for dead by their father at a very young age. Parallel quest lines and various in-game events also uncover more information about artefacts and monsters from Atlantean times.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey allows the players to choose how to react to significant events. You have dialogue options, branching quests and multiple endings. The players can choose between siblings Alexios and Kassandra to use as the main character. They are Greek mercenaries and descendants of the Spartan king Leonidas I. That allows them to inherit his broken spear, which was reforged into a special blade to become a weapon that grants the player special abilities in combat. The notoriety system makes mercenaries chase the players if they commit various crimes in front of other characters. The game also features a skill tree system that allows unlocking new skills. Three main branches feature different archetypes. The first one is a hunter, who prefer to use bows and ranged attacks; the second one is a warrior, which is used for melee battles; and assassin focus on silent murders and stealth playstyle.

The hitbox combat system is in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and it grants the players access to different special ultimate skills when the ability bar fills up. These include potent abilities, such as calling a rain of arrows and a powerful kick to knock opponents down. The game also features an equipment system in which each piece of armour the player wears has different attributes and provides a range of various bonuses. All of those are separate pieces, and you may upgrade and customize them. The Eagle Vision is used through a golden eagle named Ikaros as a companion, which you can control to scout the area nearby without being noticed.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey features naval combat, and it gives access to Hellenistic-era warships to explore the Aegean Sea. The conflict between Sparta and Athens is shown through a War System, which allows the players to acquire contracts and objectives from mercenaries and participate in different large-scale battles. That affects a faction’s influence over a region.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey offers various playstyles to the players along with multiple role-playing aspects, which affect both the virtual world and the main plot of the game. The players may even develop romantic relationships with non-playable characters of both genders. That way, the flexibility and freedom of choice allow both hardcore and casual players to enjoy the game.
