Assassin's Creed Unity Gameplay

The story of Assassin's Creed Unity starts in Versailles, and you begin gameplay as a child. You travel to Paris at the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789, where you were located until the Thermidorian Reaction later in 1794. The modern-day setting of the game focuses on Assassins that require you to explore the past and find something in the present. Also, you may explore time anomalies throughout the story. Accessing them takes you to various points of Parisian history, such as Paris' Belle Époque and the period of occupation by Nazi Germany during World War II.

Assassin's Creed Unity introduces the Phantom Blade in addition to the weapons that are available in the previous games of the series. Its mechanics are similar to crossbow, and it can fire a projectile for ranged attacks, and it also has built-in functions of the Hidden Blade to perform silent melee assassinations. To move smoothly around the game world, you can use "Free-run up" and "Free-run down" commands to make it easier to climb buildings in either direction. Additionally, the protagonist may learn more acrobatic tricks throughout the game, and the players may also discover additional moves. Large crowds of computer-controlled characters offer various interactions and activities, which appear organically. For example, you can threaten a group of bullies by pulling out a weapon, resolve a disagreement between two civilians or chase down a thief who robbed a passerby.

Assassin's Creed Unity offers various options for customization of the characters' abilities. You have access to the skill tree that enables you to assign points earned through gameplay to improve many skills in melee, ranged, stealth and health. Players are also able to customize their weapons, armour and equipment to complement their playstyle further. Players also have a wide selection of weapons available, including axes, swords, spears, rifles, pistols and throwable items, such as smoke bombs. The game also features a DLC, which adds the formidable guillotine gun.

Assassin's Creed Unity introduces cooperative multiplayer to the series. You can enter taverns which act as social hubs in the game, and there you can see if any friends are online at the current time. If they are currently on a mission, they will appear as a ghost, allowing you to request to join them. When it's accepted, you teleport to their game which resets to the most recent checkpoint. It is possible to play with up to three other friends together using this game mode. The players use their customized version of the protagonist, and other players appear as their versions of the characters using their sets of weaponry, equipment and armour. Most of the missions and activities are available for cooperative play; however, some story missions are single-player only.
