Black Squad Gameplay
Black Squad combines the fast-paced combat similar to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and the class and weapon system from Call of Duty. The game was first released in South Korea, and then worldwide a year later. The gameplay is based on the players competing against each other in a military environment using prototypes of real-life weapons and equipment. The project provides players with multiple diverse game modes, which are the following:
Team Elimination divides the players into two teams to fight until one of the sides is gone.
Capture is the game mode where two groups of players have to conquer and hold a specific point the longest.
Destruction mode requires each team has to destroy five crates that have a massive number of health points. And whoever does complete the objective first wins the game.
Assassination revolves around a computer-controlled VIP character, and one group of players has to protect it, while the other team has to eliminate the target.
Demolition is similar to Counter-Strike’s primary game mode, and one team has to plant a bomb, and the other one has to prevent the explosion.
In Black Squad, some of the game modes allow the players to choose one of four primary playable classes, which are Assault, Command, Recon and Support. Each of the archetypes has a skill tree, and you can obtain experience points to level up and acquire more abilities to use in combat. Perks can be passive bonuses to specific attributes or provide you with a bonus chance to obtain more ammunition from the slain enemies. Some abilities are active, and you have to choose the target and manually activate it at the needed time, and such skills usually have a massive impact on the battle.
Black Squad features a wide range of available weapons and optional customizations for them. The players choose their loadout before the game begins, and you can purchase more equipment using gold, which is one of the in-game currencies. The options include rapid-fire guns, high-damage guns, sniper rifles, pistols and shotguns. Each has unique attributes and physics and can be useful in a variety of situations. The game also features a few unique extra powerful weapons, which you can purchase with medals, and you can get them for completing objectives and completing daily and weekly quests.
Black Squad also includes the in-game shop, and the players can use real money to buy various visual improvements for both characters and gear pieces. The game does not prioritize the pay-to-win model, and you cannot unlock all of the most potent perks by directly investing real money into it. The shop offers unique skins and loot crates, and you can purchase them without any limitations.
Black Squad allows the players to create custom games manually, and you can even restrict your server only to accept other players from your friend list to join the game. However, the only administrative ability is to kick other players, and it is impossible to break the game balance. The game does not support dedicated servers, and that makes player-created games the only way to battle others. The project fits both casual and hardcore players because of its diverse gameplay and progression system, and new players can always join random servers to obtain more experience and gold to practice and develop their unique playstyle.
