Gameplay

With so many choices in the MMORPG genre, it takes something truly special to stand out from the crowd. Bless Unleashed, developed by Round 8 Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, aimed to do just that with its action-oriented gameplay and expansive open world. Unfortunately, it seems to miss the mark in several key areas, leaving players with an experience that feels unfinished and unpolished.

Gameplay Mechanics

Bless Unleashed touts its action-oriented combat as a primary selling point, but it quickly becomes repetitive and monotonous. Lack of skill variety and somewhat clunky controls contribute to combat that feels less exciting and more of a chore. In addition, while the game claims to offer an open-world experience, much of it feels restricted, funneling players into grinding the same set of mobs repeatedly.

Story and Quests

The storyline is another area where Bless Unleashed falls flat. Despite having the potential to offer an engaging narrative set in a rich, mythological world, the quests often boil down to the same tired MMO tropes—kill X number of creatures, collect Y items, and so on. The narrative lacks depth and originality, leaving players uninvested in the world or their character’s role within it.

User Interface and Quality of Life

Another gripe with Bless Unleashed is its cluttered and unintuitive user interface. It often seems as if the developers prioritized form over function, making it difficult to navigate menus or manage inventory effectively. This significantly disrupts the gameplay experience, pulling players out of immersion and into frustration.

Microtransactions

While Bless Unleashed is free-to-play, the game seems to push its microtransactions a bit too aggressively. While not “pay-to-win” in the strictest sense, the in-game purchases can offer significant advantages, making it hard for those who prefer not to spend extra money to keep up.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Bless Unleashed feels like a missed opportunity. In its attempt to carve a niche in the saturated MMORPG market, it has failed to deliver on almost every front. Unless significant improvements are made, it’s hard to recommend this game to anyone but the most ardent of MMO fans looking for something—anything—new to try.
