Crucible Gameplay

Players are given the role of hunters including aliens, humans and robots with unique weapons, abilities and style of gameplay. Currently, there are only ten playable characters. The central aspect is the teamwork that will be required from users in different modes to extract the essence, a particular resource that enhances the heroes.

There were three modes at the release: Heart Of The Hives, Harvester Command and Alpha Hunters. Heart Of The Hives features two teams fighting against hive bosses that appear on the map. Each hive hides a heart, and the first team to capture all hearts wins a match. Harvester Command requires two squads of eight players to capture and hold Harvester's Essences, which are scattered all over the map. The first team to deplete the field wins. The third mode is called Alpha Hunters, and it allows eight teams with two players in each to fight to the last standing.

Online team shooter Crucible was released in Steam in late May. Even though the game was in the development stage for almost five years, it has many problems. The developers said that they had read the players' feedback on Crucible; all the negative feedback was explored to release a program of transformations that should bring the game to an ideal state. First of all, they will remove two of the three available modes and focus on one most popular.

At this point, the developers have decided to suspend work on 2 of 3 game modes and focus on the rest. Besides, the seasons promised on the release were postponed until the official correction of all the shortcomings. According to the developers, the season will not start until they improve all aspects. After that, the whole Crucible gameplay will be redesigned. The developers rely on feedback and suggestions from players based on the first changes.
