Dark and Light Gameplay

Dark and Light was previously developed by the western company NPCube. This MMORPG was announced at E3 exhibition in 2004, and in 2006 the game officially opened its servers for all players. The launch failed, the game was closed, and Snail Games bought all rights to work on Dark and Light.

The universe of Dark and Light was built based on the original game. Wind, earth, water, fire, light and darkness are essential elements of the magical world. Through the interaction of these elements, the whole world has undergone enormous changes. Now players have to adapt and learn to cope with the frost, heat, poisonous gas and darkness. This magical world is full of dangers, and the development of the character depends on the challenge you are ready to accept.

The collapse of the star caused a burst of dark energy, which put the whole planet in danger. The world of Dark and Light is variable at different times of day, especially during the lunar eclipse when the dark energy has a strong influence on all beings. The whole continent will fall into chaos, where all living creatures will attack each other and destroy everything in their path.

Magic plays a crucial role in this game. In this fantastic world, magic will surround you everywhere. In Dark and Light, there are different kinds of spells for defence, attack, research, conscription, and movement. You can move to different places creating portals, or increase your power for superiority in battles; you can even change the weather conditions to have an advantage in combat on your side. For some spells, you will need different materials and specific places to work with it.

On this dangerous planet, you can defend yourself not only with the help of magic but also with your physical power. From small daggers to swords and crossbows, the game offers 14 types of near and far combat weapons. These weapons will be a good help in exploring the world. Each item has unique properties and different effects. It's also possible to cast spells to improve combat abilities.

There are dozens of different fantastic creatures in the game. The most popular among them are dragons, gryphons, and unicorns, who are native inhabitants of this continent. You can extract magic energy from the animals to gain skills, as well as tame them and use them to fight or produce resources. Depending on the way you raise them, they will be faithful friends and help you in the game. Besides ordinary animals, there are especially powerful creatures-victims of natural disasters which are the strongest on the planet. If you defeat these mythical creatures, you will get the fantastic treasures.

Game characters and animals can develop and acquire new skills. After increasing the level of the hero, you can improve the various abilities of your character: strength, speed, endurance, resilience and so on. The game also has a unique skill tree system, which allows deciding the direction of the development. By building houses, you will improve your knowledge in construction; by practising magic, you will discover new mysteries; by creating weapons, you will find the blueprints and so on. All skills and knowledge are linked. You have the opportunity to become an experienced master, but you will have to spend a lot of time and effort into this.

In Dark and Light, no one can survive alone. Cooperation in a multiplayer game is essential. It's possible to master all the skills, but if each player improves the specific profession and works in a team, the work will be much more productive.

Since the game is a sandbox, you can build everything everywhere. First of all, you need to get the necessary construction materials. Later you can improve your tools and the quality of buildings. You can design a house as you want and build it anywhere. You'll need magic to build protective structures. It's also possible to use NPCs to control your magic tower.

The planet is still at risk of being invaded by dark forces from other planets. Even when the portal was destroyed, a dark red star still emits dark energy. The protagonist is one of those who survived and must protect his world. The randomness of world events will allow you to choose your conscious path of development, darkness or Light. The future of this world will depend on your choice.
