Deadside Gameplay

Deadside features the realistic open world and the environment with a unique graphical style that reflects the hopelessness and despair of this world. The game keeps the balance between a dynamic shooter and a strategic survival sandbox, and it focuses on a realistic post-apocalyptic universe. The players can explore over two hundred square kilometres of space, which includes thick forests, abandoned settlements and vast open fields; it's also possible to use roads to travel quicker. The world is full of various computer-controlled characters, which can be both friendly and hostile to all players. Going through the forest may take you to a group of bandits or cannibals, and in some cases, you may encounter friendly wanderers that try to survive as well.

Apart from exploration, the players of Deadside can participate in various missions that you can find using the in-game map. Sometimes, different computer-controlled characters spawn at random locations to complete a specific goal, and the players can travel there as well to engage in the battle against them. These events do not limit the number of players that can join, and you can also choose to side with both parties. That way, some games may last hours, but only the winning team can receive the reward.

Deadside features a unique system that spawns computer-controlled characters that act similar to the real players. In case if a location does not have enough people, the game adds these bots to improve the experience. You can use built-in voice chat to communicate with other players; it's also possible to text message using the text window. Interacting with others may attract the attention of various characters nearby that may try to kill you and steal all of your valuables.

Deadside focuses on realism, and the main features of the built-in combat system are realistic ballistics, hardcore weapon damage and a wide range of available firearms. You can travel the map to find them in various stashes and on corpses of other characters. You can upgrade the weaponry by attaching additional equipment, such as sights, flashlights, extended mags and others. Most of them also require different types of ammunition, and these can also be found or bought from others. You can use a few kinds of melee weapons, such as knives, axes and maces to battle monsters and other characters.

Deadside introduces a unique building system that allows the players to create entire bases to control and develop using their resources. You have to collect a large number of materials to build different types of structures, and such camps cannot be destroyed by other players and can store various valuables that cannot be stolen. The game allows the players to raid other bases to steal items from some stashes and NPCs. Players can also craft small stashes and put them anywhere around the game world to hide some of the things they do not want to lose.

Deadside fits both casual and hardcore players because of the massive game world that includes different types of challenges, multiple safe zones and hardcore encounters to try at any time. The game shows the basic mechanics to new players, and you can always experiment with various weapons to find the most fitting playstyle. Hardcore gamers can participate in large-scale battles and hunt for the best equipment available, and the developers continuously update the game to provide them with the new content.
