Elden Ring Gameplay
Elden Ring is an adventure RPG by From Software known for the Dark Souls series and writer George Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire). The events of this project unfold in a world inspired by Scandinavian mythology.
There's not too much information known about Elden Ring: we know that Hidetaka Miyazaki worked with legendary writer George Martin on the storyline of Elden Ring. It is important to note that Martin was mainly engaged in the creation of the game universe itself: its history, internal logic, culture and features. In his turn, Miyazaki wrote the central storyline, invented the main characters, and adapted Martin's ideas in every possible way.
The "Elden Ring phenomenon" is a crucial aspect that ties into all elements of the game in one way or another. The closest comparison is the "Mark of Darkness" from Dark Souls or the "Ancient Blood" from Bloodborne. Elden Ring represents an essential part of the game universe, a kind of fundamental phenomenon that marks the existence of absolute order. However, some irreparable catastrophe has occurred in the world, which has affected all the usual foundations of life. Familiar things are undergoing terrible changes. Ordinary people, the royal nobility, the demigods, including the player, all find themselves under the influence of some mystic events. Players will have to experience all the horrors and not just read about them in item descriptions.
The structure of the game itself promises to become much more expansive. Instead of travelling across a single, conditionally "local" continent, you will have to cross an entire endless land. And at every level the player will face unique locations, new enemies and allies, passing from level to level in a completely different state. Quest chains of story characters also promise noticeable development. You will see the result of entire epic stories, where different heroes are pursuing their own goals and have personal ambitions.
The world of Elder Ring is populated by creatures from a wide variety of backgrounds and races. Some of them are similar to the already familiar fantasy stereotypes; others are the result of work made by FromSoftware. This approach allows the authors to populate the locations with really charismatic and memorable characters.
There are different schools of magic in the game. Their stories and their role in the storyline will be given a lot of attention, both through direct narration and through indirect ways, like exciting features of the visual design.
George Martin is known for paying great attention to the construction of genuinely believable worlds, describing in detail both global political conflicts and the smallest everyday life of ordinary people. As for Elder Ring, the writer did not betray his habits and similarly approached the implementation of the new game world. Launching the game, you immediately realize that you find yourself in a universe with a real deep history, where each event or character is an echo of centuries of events.
