Hex: Shards of Fate Gameplay

Hex: Shards of Fate is an MMOTCG with elements of RPG, which was created by the team of the developers of classic board games. The Cryptozoic Entertainment crew make their best to keep the traditional experience of a TCG gameplay and improve it with exclusive features inaccessible in real life — as they say, they “don’t fix the stuff that ain’t broke”.

For example, the main feature of Hex is an opportunity to modify and transform the deck even during the match. You can socket gems into the cards to empower them with new abilities, turn into brand new combinations and experiment with your deck design. Moreover, you can steal the cards of your opponent to change your settings.

Moreover, Hex: Shards of Fate not only improves the existing gameplay model but also adds original mechanics. It has a story-driven RPG campaign where you can compete with AI-controlled opponents and solve puzzles. During the character creation, you can choose the faction, gender, race and class; after that, you will have to make a unique skill set and assemble a set of equipment. The level and abilities of your hero influence on the modifications of the card deck, which enables new gameplay strategies. Also, you can hire mercenaries to gather a powerful team and efficiently overcome all the challenges in the dungeons.

The dungeons are a specific part of the Campaign experience. The game has hundreds of different competitions which contain puzzles, exciting quests, valuable rewards, and over than 300 exclusive cards for your deck. The single-player mode is incredibly immersive thanks to the advanced TCG AI, which flexible suits for the skill level of all players. Even more, all computer-driven opponents have unique personalities which determine their behaviour patterns.

During the character creation, you will have to choose a faction; your race choice depends on that feature. The Ardent coalition is an alliance formed by surface races of the Hex world: humans, elves, orcs, and coyotles — cunning and peaceful feral creatures. Their opponents belong to the Underworld faction. Unlike the first one, this alliance unites the underground species: human-like Necrotics, hyper-aggressive rabbits called Shin’Hare, spider-orcs Vennen, and good old dwarves. Unlike the stereotypical fantasy dwarves, these creatures are beings of pure chaos.

Hex: Shards of Fate is one of the best competitive MMOTCGs: it has a ladder system with ranked and limited play mode, gauntlet tournaments and VIP tournaments. The Ladder is a primary competition which provides unique benefits for gaining ranks; Ranked is a classic model of the Ladder, and Limited is a mode where you have to fight using pre-built decks. The Gauntlet Tournaments provides an opportunity to play single-game matches with customized deck. Finally, VIP tournaments are accessible for VIP players; this model offers a unique experience for the most skilled players.

Hex: Shards of Fate is suitable both for fans of the genre and new players: it has pleasant smooth introduction questline, in-depth lore, active community and extremely variable gameplay. The basic mechanics are quite similar to all paper and online TCGs, but with unique opportunities.
