Hunger Dungeon Review
Hunger Dungeon is an indie MMO battle arena developed and published by Buka Game Studio.
- Multiple Game Modes
- Numerous Spells and Abilities
- In-depth Character Customization
- Diverse Maps and Locations
Hunger Dungeon features multiple maps that use low-resolution pixelated textures for both environment and character models. The game provides the players with a 2D top-down view, and each match can contain up to six players and their unique characters. It has a weekly rotation of different free content, and the players can purchase the heroes in the in-game shop. The game features over ten different character archetypes, such as Vagrant Ninja, Goblin Profiteer, Nimble Assassin and others, and the players can even customize their abilities and passive perks.
The game provides the players with both single and multiplayer game modes, and there are a few missions for solo players to complete. However, the primary focus of Hunger Dungeon is on the game modes that can include at least two different people. The primary game mode features multiple rounds of free-for-all battles for the players, and the main objective is to stay alive and defeat as many opponents as possible. The last round determines who has the best ratio and awards the player with additional crystals, which can be used to win the game. However, everyone can still steal the victory at this point of the match. There are multiple other modes, and the players can team up to compete against another group of people. In some cases, you can form a friendly group to engage in dangerous battles against computer-controlled opponents, hordes of creatures and massive bosses.
Hunger Dungeon allows the players to choose one unique character archetype, and they can customize it with additional items, equipment, scrolls and medals. You can participate in various activities to acquire experience points and level up to get more skill points and unlock other features for your character. Everyone can purchase scrolls, which contain numerous abilities, and you can use them in combat freely. The amount of equipped skills is limited, which allows the players to customize their playstyles.
Hunger Dungeon focuses on battles between players; however, you still need to ensure the survival of your characters, and hunger mechanics introduce a bar that is continuously decreasing. The bar can be filled back up with various consumables you can find around the map, such as meat, cheese, milk and others. If you run out of the resources, the character attributes can decrease. That feature makes the players adapt and approach the battles more strategically, and you can also carry some of those in your inventory.
Hunger Dungeon is a free-to-play project, and the players can always download the game and get access to free characters at any time. However, the in-game shop provides them with other options, which include a premium account, more cosmetics and character skins. The players can upgrade their account with a one-time fee to get access to most of the features, but it does not affect the overall gameplay. The game fits both casual and hardcore gamers due to its diverse game modes and a wide range of challenges. Some activities can be challenging even for the best players, and in others, you can play with friends with any significant difficulties.
