Insurgency: Sandstorm Gameplay

In Sandstorm, players will be able to try out new modes such as cooperative for four people, new missions, classic and unique elements of the gameplay. There are three main modes: Cooperative Battle against Bots, Team Battle Duel with up to 32 participants and Competitive Rating Match 5v5.

Customization in Sandstorm is represented in several different types. The first is the appearance of the fighter; it is customizable in the main menu: face, camouflage, various accessories, from clothing and jewellery to tattoos and facial features. The second option of customization is to choose a class of fighter directly during the game. As a rule, the number of soldiers of one type is strictly limited to suit the balance of the combat system - for example, a team can have only two snipers and two commanders. Only a machine gunner can use machine guns, and a bomber can use grenade launchers, but nothing stops you from picking up the weapon that dropped during the combat.

In addition, the choice of class affects the additional customization options, which are a specific set of weapons and armour. Each soldier has a dozen and a half points of equipment, which is spent to acquire the necessary guns, various modifiers to it (sights, handles, flame retarders), pistols, grenades and bulletproof vests.

This system allows you to select the right equipment for yourself based on the convenience of use or the chosen role on the battlefield. For example, a sniper, if he is going to shoot from a distance, rarely changing his position, it is better to take a powerful rifle with a high multiplicity sight and a heavy bulletproof vest. But in this case, it is unlikely that there will be points on the gun and grenades. For example, it will be useful for a player who wants to play a hybrid role.

Two game classes have unique roles in combat: commander and observer. The first one controls the battle directly. The commander has tools to change the situation on the battlefield, and the observer is the only player who can help to complete them. The observer can help to ask for an artillery strike to an assault helicopter attack or an entire squadron of drones. The commander is helpless without an observer—it wouldn't be even possible to call for a helicopter.

The gameplay process of Insurgency: Sandstorm is highly realistic and detailed. The characters can die from one hit, the shooting mechanics are physically correct, and there are no casual gameplay aspects such as hit markers on the screen.
