Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning Description

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a Single-player RPG game developed by Big Huge Games and 38 Studios and published by Electronic Arts. The game was released in February 2012. In this game, players will immerse into the role of a nameless hero, who unwillingly became a participant in the war between the Children of Ashes and the immortals, who declared war first. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will allow the player to plunge into the universe created by fantasy author Robert Salvatore in collaboration with Todd McFarlane.

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning Gameplay

The gameplay of Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning is a lot like an MMORPG, as it was the original genre of the project, which was later reworked into an RPG. There are grind and zones of different level mobs. This also applies to visual and stylistic design.

Visual design and atmosphere

First of all, Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning attracts with its cosy atmosphere. It is achieved through the colour scheme of the game, beautiful lighting, as well as detailing and well-designed locations. Despite the lore, the game gives the impression of a fabulous fantasy more.

Storyline and quests

The history of the world is deep enough in Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. This is achieved thanks to the involvement in the development of Robert Salvatore and Todd MacFarlane. Dozens of hours of an exciting campaign and even more time will be spent on completing side quests that will allow you to get closer to the lore of KoAR. Separately, it is worth noting some non-linearity: depending on the choice of the player in a given situation, the plot will change dramatically.

Combat system in Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning

The combat system of the game combines elements of RPG and action. It is a non-targeted dynamic system with the parallel use of various skills from the hot bar. One of the main features is the introduced system of finishing moves. An adversary in a dying state will be available for some time to use finishing moves on him. It allows you not only to contemplate a beautiful and colourful finishing scene, unique for each type of weapon but also to get more experience for defeating a mob.

Class system and skills

There are three classes in the game: mage, warrior and robber, but there are no severe class distinctions here. Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning allows you to combine builds and create unique playstyles, such as an elemental rogue, etc. Besides, for the unification of various classes, fate cards will open. The choice of a particular card will give the player additional bonuses.
In terms of skill trees, each branch has a relatively small number of skills, and each skill can be improved up to a maximum of level 5; however, there is an infinite number of combinations that a player can create. In addition to combat class skills, there are also professional skills. In the game, you can practice alchemy, blacksmithing and other classic crafts.

Opponents and bosses

The game has many different opponents, each type of which is located in specific locations. The high-quality study of the model of each mob in the smallest details is striking. Each of them has its mechanics of behaviour, its advantages and disadvantages. Also, the player will periodically meet with bosses, which will be accompanied by a separate splash screen for their appearance. To defeat them, you will have to develop optimal tactics, as well as calculate their weaknesses. For example, an ice troll will have a low resistance to fire, etc.
