Maelstrom is a classic Battle Royale game featuring naval battles. Players can choose one of the vessels and set out to conquer various arenas, destroying enemies with cannons or waiting to be eaten by monsters outside the narrowing ring. Among the features, it is worth noting a good arcade, which leads to the place and physics of weapons. Thanks to the latter, the projectiles do not hit instantly and have a unique trajectory. Also, when shooting, it is necessary not only to aim but also to try to predict the possible course of the enemy.
Maelstrom is a major naval battle in a dark fantasy world filled with monsters and leviathans. Players will be guided by a warship of one of three races (Orcs, Dwarves or Humans) and will embark on a dangerous journey through the stormy ocean of the Abyss with other users in solo and team online matches. The game works using the basic mechanics of the battle royale genre but brings unique features. Each race has unique abilities and tactics of battle.
Guns are the heart of battles in Maelstrom. Cannonballs are controlled by physics and have a significant arc and flight time. Calculation and precision are required to deal with the damage effectively. Players with good reaction and a developed sense of foreboding, combined with a suitable ship, will be able to dodge the attacking fire. Enemy ships can be rammed or boarded. The faster the ramming boat moves, the more destructive the collision will be. If one crew manages to kill all members of the enemy's vessel, their ship will sink.
Each ship in Maelstrom has armour on all four sides. The armour sections provide additional protection against damage and must be destroyed to defeat the enemy faster. Players need to skilfully use manoeuvring to put their armour strictly at the enemy's disposal, and in turn, finding the enemy's damaged sides will make you much more deadly in battle. Each cannon has three types of ammunition, and you can change them during combat depending on the situation—iron ammunition tears off pieces of ship's armour and hull. A chain shot is used to destroy sails and reduce the speed of the vessel, and the cartridge kills the enemy crew and facilitates the boarding.
