Rocket League will go free-to-play next week
Psyonix announced that Rocket League would transfer to Free-to-Play model back in July; today, the studio has announced the exact date of the transfer. The project will go free-to-play next week, September 23th, 2020. Rocket League will be removed from Steam, but players who have already purchased the game in this shop will be able to continue playing. At the same time, the PC-version will appear in the Epic Games Store.
The transition to Free to Play game model have already started. On september 16th, Rocket League will receive a patch which will add an opportunity to link the steam accounts to the Epic Games for cross-progressin, Legacy items and authors support program.
Together with the transition to the Free-to-Play model the game will receive an update with the Rocket Pass of the first season. Changes in Tournaments and Tests will also come into effect. Also, developers will launch a temporary event "Llama-Rama", which is a collaboration with the battle royale game Fortnite.
