Sea of Thieves Gameplay
Sea of Thieves is a massively multiplayer action game in the pirate setting. The main feature of this game is sea voyages. You can choose a ship, invite friends in your crew and start the journey. The game provides specific quests to guide the player through the storyline and teach the basic mechanics. The exploration of the sea is unlimited; it's not necessary to play following the strict guide. You can travel around the world alone, explore the distant islands, and search for stashes. Sea voyages are fascinating; they help you to relax and immerse into the atmosphere of exciting adventures; if you have friends and a big ship, then any journey turns into a real storm of emotions.
One of the critical features of the game is social interaction, brought to a new level. During the sea battles, players have to serve their ship and skillfully distribute roles: manage the vessel, patch up the holes, take care of the sails, scorch the guns, and fight with other pirates. A skilful teamplay is the key to success.
The gameplay is as exciting and straightforward as possible. You can complete quests from different factions and travel in search of treasures or all kinds of values to earn gold; it's possible to spend the money on the decoration of the ship and other cosmetic features. The quests are incredibly immersive and remind of the movies about pirates. For example, you can receive a map with a cross, and you need to find the place, dig up a chest of gold and then escape from the local skeletons that protect gold from such pirates. Quests are fascinating, and you will not find anything like this in other games for sure.
In the game you can throw a fishing rod and fish in a quiet place, admiring the magnificent sea and sunsets. The sea is inhabited by dozens of fish species with their behaviour and features. For example, there is a luminous fish, which can act as a lantern. Also, any caught fish can be cooked and eaten, which will raise the health. On every ship now you can find two harpoon guns, which are mainly used for boarding, but if you want to try a harpoon on one of the sea creatures, this opportunity can be used.
Sea of Thieves has several game modes. The Arena is a separate game mode with a specific hub. When players are recruited to five full crews of four, the battle starts. All teams are given the same treasure map, and the combat begins.
The first landing on the island can end with a grand battle involving five galleons. To avoid this, our team sent a "field team" of two pirates to the island while the rest of the crew manoeuvred wildly around the ship. Then, after our signal, the vessel would sharply approach the shore, we'd throw chests in there and get off as fast as possible. Still, it's not enough to find the chests: you have to take them on board and protect the trove from other players. After you receive it, all team members will share the money and obtained experience. However, the winners always can be robbed by other pirates.
