Second Life Gameplay
Second Life is a virtual world that offers many social-based activities. The game provides an opportunity to create a fully customizable and unique character, interact with other players, start a family, do scientific research, perform music concerts and moreover. It also has many other features, such as jobs, entertainments and education. This MMO has no classes so that players can choose the path of their character individually, with no restrictions.
First of all, when you enter the game for the very first time, you will have to create a unique character called avatar. It’s your representation in the world of Second Life. In this game, almost every aspect of your avatar is entirely customizable. There is an opportunity to change a form of your hero and make it human, animal, vegetable, mineral, or mythic creature. These forms can be bought or created by the user. Even though that single resident can have only one character, it’s appearance can be changed at any moment. Avatars can communicate with each other by using chat or IMs for private conversations. Another method of communication is voice chat.
The game has no strict plot or mission. Every player can choose the path of the character and create its story. The main feature of the game is roleplay, that can take various forms. Players can choose any profession and mission for their character out of many possible ways, or spend time talking to other avatars. The essential part of this game is relationships: players can make friends, marry other avatars, roleplay parenthood and more other activities. The game also provides the adult content for players who are 18+ years old.
Second Life has realistic economics driven by players. It has an in-game currency called Linden Dollars that even can be converted into real money. Players can trade with each other, get a job, or sell their generated content on the auction. There is also an opportunity to start a business. Another interesting function is the real estate market: you can own a house, sell it, rent or lease your place. Several players even created the fortune in real currency on deals with the estate.
In the Second Life, players have a unique chance to express themselves by art. This game offers an opportunity to organise an art exhibition, music concert, create films or theatrical performance. You can also attend sports by participating in different competitions that take place on the Grid.
One of the most enjoyable features of Second Life is player-generated content. The game provides an opportunity to create unique items, animations, pieces of art and scripts with the help of the unique Linden Script Language.
Second Life has a comfortable environment for education. Many colleges, universities and government entities have a branch office in this game. For example, West Virginia University has a campus, that is widely used in education progress because SL can be used for visualisation of the experiments and collaboration in scientific research. This university even provides the grants for the completing of a distant course. Also, several government structures opened the embassies in the Second Life. Another exciting feature is that many companies offer an opportunity to get a real distant job in the game.
