Stardew Valley Clay Guide

Stardew Valley Clay Guide

Clay is one of the common resources in Stardew Valley that can be found by digging up the regular ground, sand, or Artifact Spots or opening the Geodes. It can also be received as a gift from the kids at the Feast of the Winter Star. It’s not used in any bundles or quests; however, it may be required for Fish Pond Upgrade.

Clay is one of the primary resources in Stardew Valley: it’s necessary for the craft of the items like deluxe retaining soil, quality retaining soil, garden pots, kegs, and brick floors. It’s also essential for building a Silo on your farm. When you start breeding animals, you will face a necessity to obtain plenty of hay for different purposes. The cheapest way to get it is to build a Silo. It’s a building which allows players to turn grass into the hay; every time you cut grass with a scythe, you have a 50% chance to add this grass to a Silo. Each building may contain up to 240 pieces of hay, which is really helpful if you’re going to make winter savings. To build this construction, you will have to gather 10 Clay, 100 Stone, 5 Bronze bars, and 100g.

How to find clay in Stardew Valley

To dig up the Clay in Stardew Valley, you need to use a hoe. The easiest way is to find the artifact spots which look like worms or roots. If you start randomly digging up the dirt spots, you’ll rarely receive some clay. Furthermore, if you didn’t know that, you can dig outside of your farm, which allows you to explore large locations to search for resources.

Most likely, the easiest good way to get Clay in Stardew Valley is to open the geodes. You can find them in the Mines or catch them during fishing. There are different kinds of geodes: Standard, Frozen, Magma, and Omni Geodes, which can be found on different levels of the mines. Using this method, you will most likely receive more Clay if you’re farming them on an unlucky day; you can check your luck at the TV on your farmhouse in the Fortune Teller menu. It will cost 25g to open them at the blacksmith, which you can find across the town’s river, to the bottom right. It’s open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm all days except for Friday.

The last way to get Clay is the least effective and pleasant because you will have to receive it as a gift on the celebration. During the Feast of the Winter Star, one of the kids (Jas or Vincent) can bring you this resource in a gift box. This event occurs on the 25th of the Winter from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in Pelican Town. However, Clay is a horrible gift for all villagers, so don’t try to hand over this gift to others.

Stardew Valley Clay Farming

First of all, if you can’t find Clay in Stardew Valley, try looking for the artifact spots. Artifact spots in town have a high chance of dropping Clay, but farming Clay on the Beach or in the mines should allow you to gather a necessary amount of this resource quickly. For each tile of this type, you’ll get 1-3 lumps of Clay. The artifact spots in Stardew Valley also often contain other items, such as Mixed Seeds or Lost Books. They usually appear the day after the rain or when it’s raining. It’s also easier to find Artifact Spots in Winter; moreover, you can also obtain some forages like Winter Roots or Snow Yams during this season.

Another excellent spot for clay mining is in the mines. You can use your hoe to till up exposed dirt. In these locations, you can receive Clay, as well as cave carrots, geodes, and relics.

The Beach is known as the best location to look for Clay: it has plenty of open space, and it’s easy to tile up the dirt here. Usually, there are some artifact spots, so that you will be able to find 2-3 pieces of Clay.

One of the good clay locations in Stardew Valley is the front yard of the carpenter’s shop, which is located in the Mountain area north of Pelican Town. If you can’t find enough Clay, try checking out all these locations and dig up the dirt outside of the town.
