Surge 2 Gameplay

After the mysterious storm, your plane crashes on the outskirts of the Jericho City. A few weeks later, you wake up in an abandoned city jail. Armoured soldiers are enforcing martial law, robots are out of control, and a terrible nanite storm is brewing over the city. In The Surge 2, you'll experience more expansive levels with an ambitious design, thanks to an improved engine. New targeting systems and a vast arsenal of weapons, tricks, and implants provide more variety in the combat system and make the battles more spectacular. Players will encounter a wide variety of opponents, including bosses.

Action has moved from the half-destroyed factory of the CREO Corporation to the nearby town of Jericho. It was hit by the nanite rocket from the first part's finale, and then a plane fell on the city and was hit by the same missile. Two people survived the crash, although many, as it would later turn out, we're convinced that only one person was lucky.

The Surge 2 is Souls-like with slasher mechanics, where the character's characteristics play almost no role, and everything is based on combinations of hits and their direction. Each type of weapon has its own set of attacks and unique features — it must be considered during the battles. After all, even if you don't use large two-handed sledgehammers, your enemies use them, and your combat tactics may also depend on it. There's also a combat drone - and its arsenal is customizable depending on your playing style. An electromagnetic grenade generator, assault rifle, sniper rifle, six-barreled machine gun, flamethrower, rocket launcher - there are weapons for every situation. The upgraded drone can not only open previously locked doors but also attack opponents with electricity.

Essential development includes precisely three elements: health, endurance and battery power. Everything else changes through implants and crafting. Implants in The Surge 2 play the role of perks - some allow you to increase the damage when fighting with human opponents, others will reduce the poisoning effect. At any time the basic set of augmentations can be shuffled from the main menu - disabling some upgrades and replacing them with others. All this allows you to prepare the hero for battle according to the conditions of the location. Crafting in The Surge 2 is directly related to the combat system. The sequel inherits the original's main feature — it is possible to upgrade the equipment, cutting off the enemy desired limb.

The character's combat capabilities in The Surge 2 are entirely determined by the equipment that he is wearing at the moment. The total amount of equipment (armour) is as huge as in the first part; if you search for information, you can find more than 30 sets, among which there are different versions of the same armour and sets from the first part. As for weapons, there are even more of them in the game than armour, and by the second boss, you will already have so many different options that it's hard to stop at one particular type because all have their bonuses and disadvantages. Each player will find something for himself.
