Tales of Berseria Gameplay

Tales of Berseria is a third-person adventure JRPG and is the sixteenth instalment in the Tales series. The developer and publisher is Bandai Namco Entertainment. The PC game was released in 2017.

In Tales of Berseria, the user will go on a journey in search of themselves. Players will feel themselves in the role of Velvet - in the past, a loving and kind girl in whose heart hatred is now burning. That all changed when she suffered a tragedy three years before the start of Tales of Berseria. Velvet joins a team of pirates and travels across the sea and the numerous islands of the heavenly kingdom of Midgand. The main goal will be a journey to further save the world from an unknown threat that is gaining strength in the domain.

The gameplay is classic for the JRPG genre. The player takes on the role of the main character and embarks on a journey through the fantasy world. Passing the storyline, the player will recruit allies into his squad, complete various quests, fight powerful opponents, and much more.

Storyline

Tales of Berseria has a fascinating storyline, exciting from the first minutes. The narration takes place with the help of detailed dialogues between the characters, the involvement of elements of the genre of visual novels, and the presence of cutscenes. In addition to the main plot, the game has many side quests that better introduce the game universe and its other characters.

Combat system

Tales of Berseria retains the combat mechanics of its predecessor, Zestiria. The Fusionic Chain Linear Motion Battle System allows the player to move freely around the battlefield in any dimension and fight the enemy using physical and magical attacks and special skills. Magic and individual skills have special features since they can produce various effects in addition to damage, such as stunning or poisoning.

The system of interaction with partners in battle has become more elaborate. The player can give allies various orders and set a certain behaviour model for each of the squad members for all subsequent actions.

Character improvement system

By defeating opponents and completing quests, the main character and his allies will gain experience, which will subsequently allow them to learn new skills and improve existing ones. In addition, in Tales of Berseria, the player can independently customize the equipment of the characters.

The necessary equipment for heroes can be found in treasuries or purchased from a merchant.

In addition to the standard equipment in the game, there is also customization of the appearance of characters with the help of appropriate clothing.

Opponents

In Tales of Berseria, the player will face many previously unseen opponents, diverse in their strength and behaviour. In every battle, you need to show skill and come up with tactics to emerge victoriously. This also applies to fighting with bosses, which pose a massive threat if the player's squad is not strong enough. Before engaging in battle with such opponents, you need to correctly assess your strength, come up with a strategy and prepare consumables.

Tales of Berseria is a great representative of adventure Japanese RPGs and an excellent sequel to the series. The game will appeal to all fans of Tales, as well as fans of titles such as Final Fantasy and Ni no Kuni.
