Spectre Hood vs Mask in Terraria

Having learned the basic information about these two types of armour, we can compare them between each other and highlight the similarities and differences.

First of all, it should be noted that these are two headdresses worn in the head slot. However, if the Spectre Hood can be worn in both the armour slot and the social slot, then the Mask can be worn exclusively in the social slot. The second common property is bonuses given when equipping. Spectre Hood gives the player the effect described above, while Mask does not provide any buffs or debuffs.

Their methods of obtaining are also different. If the player can craft Spectre Hood, having the necessary resources, then the Mask can be obtained only after killing the corresponding boss. At the same time, the guaranteed receipt of the Spectre Hood when crafting as opposed to 1/7 of the chance of dropping the Mask.

Summing up, we can conclude that these are two completely opposite pieces of equipment of the same type. If the player wants to look unusual in the first place or brag about the trophy received from the boss, then he can wear the Mask. However, if he primarily needs armour and its effects, then he must wear the Spectre Hood. It should be borne in mind that the player can easily put on both of these items at once, however, in this case, only the social headdress will be outwardly visible, in this case – the Mask. It is important that the Mask does not interfere with the bonuses and protection received from the head armour.
