Tibia hasn't undergone any changes since its release and has kept its classic feel for over 20 years. This has kept many core fans playing the game since it's release. The developers still regularly throw in updates and events to keep players interested. Tibia is an excellent choice for hardcore PvP seekers who wish to undertake more of a challenge.

There are four main server types to choose from open PvP, optional PvP, hardcore PvP, and retro PvP. The kind of play killing allowed is based on your choice; for older players of Tibia, the retro option even puts them in a server with the classic ruleset. Open PvP puts you in a world with no limits player killing, but killers will be marked with a skull making them a target for other players. Optional PvP gives you the ability to play Tibia without being killed by rival players. Finally, selecting hardcore PvP will put you in a server that rewards players for killing each other.

Character creation in Tibia is basic without many customization options. You can, however, choose from four different classes, paladin, druid, knight, and sorcerer. After reaching level 20, you can opt to be a premium player and pay gold for a character promotion. In Tibia you can reach up to level 999 as you use weapons and fight monsters your skills will level up, giving you more advantages in battle. The more you use a particular skill, the higher it's level will be

The fighting is point and click-based, with some hotkeys you can use to set for items or special skills. This makes the game easy to grind in. The game is sword and magic-based with each class learning more towards weapons or magic. You can choose to team up in a small party to share experience and loot with other players. The leader of the party will have to enable shared experience in this game. The game does ban PvP in aggressive servers between party members.

Tibia is an excellent entry into MMORPG's for new players. While it's simplified 2D graphics and gameplay may be a turnoff for some, for others, it's a great way to learn the ropes of the genre. Be aware that Tibia is one of the most grinding based MMORPGs out there. While the PvP modes make up for this, it may bore the player who prefers faster-paced games. Most anyone can play Tibia with on their computer as long as they have internet access. The game requires no downloads and runs entirely in a separate pop-up window.
