More about MOBA

MOBA games feature a team-based game mode where the ultimate goal is to destroy the enemies' main building; still, some projects have additional requirements. Competing teams include up to five players, and everyone can select different heroes. The main goal is to protect the base from the invasion of enemy mobs and players and find a way to destroy their structures first.

When one of the characters dies, the enemies nearby receive experience and in-game currency. The dead players have to wait for a specific amount of time to respawn, which is determined by various in-game factors. Experience allows to increase the level of the characters, and that directly affects the attributes and availability of more powerful versions of existing abilities. The in-game currency lets you spend it onto the in-game items that increase the hero's characteristics, which makes you much more powerful. It's necessary to obtain various upgrades to increase the power of the whole team because that directly affects the chances of winning.

Most MOBA games have a wide range of playable characters that may have different in-game roles. Some heroes are more durable, and others have more damage output. Most of them can fit into supports, carry and gankers. Carry heroes are the cores of the team, and they are required to obtain as much equipment as possible to maximize the damage and crush the opponents. Support characters often have buffing and healing abilities, and they guard the cores to let them get as much money as possible. Gankers move around the map, and they choose a role depending on the situation. They may perform an ambush on the enemy core, or move to the other side of the map to protect the allies. Teams may adjust the strategy during the game, and roles are often classified by the particular line they occupy at the time.

In MOBAs, the characters have a limited inventory, so the players must carefully choose the essential items to purchase and wear. You can sell unneeded pieces for a half-price, and some projects allow you to combine cheaper items to create powerful artefacts that are not available in shops. Some MOBA projects give the players an additional slot for items that are used to teleport around the map. That opens up a wide variety of strategic choices, and you can equip more powerful artefacts that may decide the outcome of the match.

MOBA games have a massive worldwide community, and new projects come out regularly. Various platforms offer many different projects, and some of those have cross-platform gameplay. Both casual and hardcore players can find a MOBA that fits their requirements, and in-depth customization and flexibility of the gameplay attract the players to discover the unique experience of the genre.
